Edmore Mourns the Death of Gregory Brisboy, 59, After Being Found Near Home

The small village of Edmore, Michigan, is in mourning following the confirmed death of 59-year-old Gregory Brisboy, who had been reported missing over the weekend. Michigan State Police located Brisboy’s body on Monday near his home in Montcalm County, ending a multi-day search that deeply impacted the close-knit community.

Brisboy, a longtime Edmore resident, was last seen Saturday leaving his Wyman Road home near northeast Cutler Road on foot, without shoes, a wallet, or a cell phone. Concern grew quickly when he did not return, prompting his family to contact authorities on Sunday afternoon. Troopers and local volunteers searched nearby roads, fields, and surrounding areas despite dangerously cold temperatures.

Preliminary reports from Michigan State Police indicate that exposure to cold weather is the likely cause of death. Authorities have confirmed there are no signs of foul play or criminal activity.

The news has left Edmore, a village of about 1,200 residents, shaken. Neighbors described Brisboy as a familiar, friendly presence in the community. Residents have gathered to share memories, support one another, and discuss ways to honor his life, including potential community memorials.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. Michigan State Police continue to review the circumstances, focusing on confirming details rather than pursuing criminal charges. The community now turns its attention to mourning and supporting Brisboy’s family.
